What is iTunes?

iTunes is a media player, media library, and online store developed by Apple. Initially launched in 2001, it became one of the most popular platforms for purchasing, organizing, and playing music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and audiobooks. iTunes also played a key role in syncing media to iPods, iPhones, and iPads.

Key functions of iTunes include:

- **Music Library**: Organize and play your music, create playlists, and manage your music collection.

- **iTunes Store**: A marketplace where users can purchase and download music, movies, TV shows, and more.

- **Podcasts**: Browse and listen to podcasts.

- **iPhone/iPad Syncing**: Sync apps, music, movies, and backups to Apple devices.

- **Backup Management**: Backup and restore iOS devices.

In 2019, Apple replaced iTunes with individual apps on macOS (Music, Apple TV, and Podcasts), while Windows users still have iTunes available for syncing and media management.
