What is wearable Technology?

Wearable technology refers to electronic devices that are worn on the body, either as accessories or embedded in clothing, which can perform a variety of functions, often related to health monitoring, communication, or general convenience. These devices collect, store, and transmit data through sensors, offering insights or performing tasks in real-time.

Categories of Wearable Technology:

1. Smartwatches: Devices like the Apple Watch or Samsung Galaxy Watch monitor health metrics (heart rate, sleep patterns), display notifications, and enable communication (calls, messages).

2. Fitness Trackers: Devices such as Fitbit track physical activity, calories burned, heart rate, and sleep patterns, helping users improve fitness and well-being.

3. Smart Glasses: Glasses like Google Glass or Microsoft HoloLens augment reality (AR) by overlaying digital information onto the real world, useful in industries like healthcare and education.

4. Wearable Health Devices: Medical wearables, such as continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) for diabetics or heart monitors, track specific health metrics and send data to healthcare providers.

5. Wearable Payment Devices: Devices like smart rings or bracelets allow users to make contactless payments by integrating with banking systems.

6. E-Textiles (Smart Clothing): Clothing embedded with sensors, like shirts that monitor posture or socks that analyse running technique, provide data on physical performance.

 Applications wearable Technology:

Health Monitoring: Continuous monitoring of vital signs like heart rate, blood pressure, and glucose levels.

Fitness and Well-being: Tracking workouts, steps, and calories, while providing feedback to improve physical fitness.

Communication: Offering hands-free communication through calls, messages, or voice assistants.

Augmented Reality: In industries like manufacturing or healthcare, AR-enabled wearables help with complex tasks by overlaying digital instructions onto the real world.
